Community Connections Ministry reaches out beyond our doors to welcome newcomers and minister to a hurting world.  Some of these teams serve short-term through projects at shelters and community outreach while others are supported year-round through visitor-welcome, special offerings and more.  All of these ministries help us become a community that lives Christ's compassion and promote justice, healing, and wholeness of life.

Our Church's Wider Mission

This ministry provides support and special funding to the world of the United Church of Christ conference and national ministries. OCWM changes lives by strengthening our ecumenical relationships and global partnerships, by imagining and creating a better world through witness and word, and by providing resources and programs to nurture the vitality of all United Church of Christ congregations.

Morning Star Mission

Morning Star Mission has been providing shelter, food, clothing, and hope to those in need in Joliet since 1909. On the first Saturday of every month, our church serves lunch at the mission.

Foods Resource Bank

The Foods Resource Bank is a Christian-based program that promotes self-sufficiency by providing food, seed, education, supplies, and tools for hungry people and poorly equipped farmers in underdeveloped nations. Plainfield Congregational Church United Church of Christ partners with several other Illinois churches from different denominations to raise funds for the Foods Resource Bank each year. Nearly $700,000 has been raised since this partnership began 10 years ago.
