We officially welcomed Rev. Dr. Thom Parrott-Sheffer to this ministry on November 30, 2014.

Pastor Thom began his ordained ministry 37 years ago; and has enjoyed working in churches in Chicago, Illinois; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Oakland, California.

Thom received his BS in Philosophy from the University of Illinois, his Master’s of Divinity from McCormick Seminary (Presbyterian) in Chicago, and his doctorate from The Church Divinity School (Episcopal) in Berkeley, California. He has memberships in the Society for the Study of Christian Spirituality, the American Academy of Religion, Spiritual Directors International and works closely with our denomination —serving on the Church and Ministry Committee, as a General Synod delegate, and remains active in the community.

Thom believes that the church is first and foremost a place of invitation to discipleship. It is where the ideas of belief become the actions of faith—where the rubber hits the road, so to speak. It is a place where all people can find a safe place to explore their relationship with God, deepen that relationship, and learn how to fully express that relationship.

In his off-hours Thom enjoys kayaking, LOVES cooking, playing his guitar, collecting Mickey Mouse & M&M memorabilia, and watching movies (lots and lots of movies).
